Terry Lyn

My name is Terry Lyn Evans. My dream of becoming a midwife was fulfilled in 2002. Since that time I have had the privilege of being a part of the team at Pacific Midwifery Practice and became a practice owner in 2008.

My journey toward becoming a midwife began when I was 12 years old and loved to look after babies. This passion led me first to a degree in Nursing from UBC then a degree in Midwifery from England. I provided nursing care to women and their families for 10 years at Women's Hospital in Vancouver while working on becoming a registered midwife in British Columbia. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with child bearing families of Vancouver and cherish the relationships that have developed.

My greatest dream of all came true January 2005 when I gave birth to my own baby- Spencer. The journey through pregnancy, birth and parenting has been extremely fascinating and has enhanced my practice as a midwife. I believe everyone should be provided with the best of care in this important part of their life. I truly love what I do and look forward to supporting women, their partners, and families through the journey of birth…and beyond-into life with their new baby.

I have always been fascinated by the process of pregnancy and childbirth and have wanted to be a Midwife since I was 14. I am from the UK where all pregnant women receive Midwifery care which is a little different from here in B.C. I trained and worked at a large regional hospital in the south of England caring for women with high risk pregnancies and complex social needs. I then moved to London to work at an inner city hospital with a hugely diverse population of clients.

As part of my training I organised an international placement with a Midwife in B.C. and had always thought of coming back one day. After two years in London, my partner Steve and I decided to move to British Columbia to experience life in another country. I joined Pacific Midwifery in 2010 and became a co-owner in 2013. I look forward to meeting new mums-to-be and their families.

    Marie Laure Terry Lyn

My name is Kelly Hayes and I have been a BC registered midwife since graduating from the midwifery program at UBC in 2005.

I have been working in Vancouver since 2006 (at Pacific Midwifery since 2011) and have also worked in Victoria and on Salt Spring Island, my home for the past 24 years.

I have three children of my own; two boys in their twenties, and a daughter in her later teens. In 2007 I married my soul mate, Wayne, who has two grown children. Since then we have been blessed with two beautiful grandchildren (and I was fortunate enough to be present at both of their births)!

Hello, I'm Clare. I completed my midwifery training at McMaster University and have caught babies in both Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario. During my training I also had the opportunity to work with midwives in Copenhagen, Denmark in an incredible midwifery-led system that reinforced my belief in normal, healthy labour and birth. Working in downtown Toronto has allowed me to work predominantly in a homebirth environment.

Before returning to Toronto to study midwifery I had the opportunity to live and work in New York City and San Francisco and spent as much time as possible backpacking, camping, hiking and searching for the best cup of coffee in any of the cities I was lucky enough to explore.

Finding my way to midwifery has felt like coming home. I consider it a privilege to work with families throughout pregnancy and birth and I am constantly inspired and humbled by women’s strength and tenacity around this time. I believe strongly in informed choice and in midwives' ability to facilitate empowering experiences for families.

I look forward to meeting you and your family and caring for you during this important life chapter.

Hedieh Montazer, RM Jesse Brown, RM

My name is Hedieh Montazer. I have over 16 years of experience as a midwife. I graduated from Tehran University with a Bachelor's Degree, and interned in Madar Hospital in 1993. I practiced in Iran for nine years in various settings from pregnancy clinic to maternity ward at hospital. I was a member of the Midwifery Association of Iran until my immigration to Canada in 2002. I completed my training at Ryerson University and interned in the Durham region of Toronto. I then worked for two years in Ontario before moving to Vancouver in 2010. I am a professionally trained and registered midwife with the British Columbia College of Midwives. I speak English and Farsi fluently.

I became interested to be a health care provider since my childhood and I chose to be a midwife after I finished high school. I have two grown up children, a girl and a boy, and I breastfed each for about two years. When I am not working, I walk, jog or cook.

It is not unusual for me to spend an hour with clients listening to their concerns, talking about their care or helping them breastfeed their newborns. It is just enjoyable getting to know each other and everyone has a story to tell. "For me, you are a person blessed with pregnancy. I will be accompanying your journey into motherhood, and I'll be forever grateful."

My name is Jesse Brown and I am so pleased to join Pacific Midwifery. I’m honoured to be covering Carolyn’s maternity leave and look forward to meeting you! I graduated from McMaster University’s Midwifery program and did placements in various regions throughout Ontario and have worked in Ontario since graduating. I’ve always been passionate about women’s healthcare and maternity care and so midwifery has proven to be the perfect blend. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum are such exciting and pivotal parts of a woman and family’s lives and I am so fortunate to share knowledge and support throughout this time.

When I’m not catching babies you’ll find me outside hiking, cooking, reading or spending time with friends and family. Moving to the West Coast will surely fill my off call time with many of BC’s treasures. I am so thankful to be a part of this amazing profession and privileged to provide care to so many wonderful people.
